I’ve had my PowerMac G5 for a few years now, and I’ve been considering replacing it with a new MacPro. According to MacRumor‘s Mac Buyer’s Guide, the last MacPro update was over a year ago, so they recommend “Don’t Buy – Updates soon”. My PowerMac still has some nice stats, 4 x 2.5 GHz G5, 5GB RAM, 500GB SATA, DVD-RW. It runs productivity applications, like Office, iLife, iWork, Photoshop, Dreamweaver, etc. very well. But it’s still a PowerPC, and for my needs, which include virtualization (ie. Fusion), as well as games, it makes sense for me to move up to Intel hardware.
I think once I’m confident my MacBook Pro is working well, I’ll reimage the PowerMac and prepare to sell it.
