I just finished installing Ubuntu 8.04.1 Linux on my two-year old MacMini. The installation was easysauce, taking all of about 15 mins. Only trick is getting the MacMini to boot from the CD properly. I found holding down the option key (alt key on non-Mac keyboard), which brings up a boot menu, worked best. Boot the Ubuntu CD, follow the simple instructions, and moments later my UbuntuMini was online and ready.
I love the form factor of the MacMini, especially how quiet it is. I have no idea why non-Apple companies can’t/don’t make something similar.
Now to get some of the services I want installed on UbuntuMini.
