Celtics vs Lakers

For the first time in 21 years, the Celtics and Lakers will match up in the NBA finals (1987 Finals: Lakers 4, Celtics 2 ). This time around there will be no Bird-Magic matchup, no Kareem poster moments, nothing mystical about this matchup, just talk of years past. Both teams have rebuilt their team this year, through mega trade deals. This is not the meeting of two slowly built teams, no draft lottery winner-built teams. While the media will spend the next week talking about the Celtics-v-Laker history, these players have none of it.

I hope for a great, high-quality series. I’d like to stop the Kobe-is-better-than-Jordan talk, so I’ll be happy to see the Celtics win.

I’m surprised the finals schedule doesn’t have more weekend games (I’d move game 1 & 4 to Friday).
