Baby Bush has just signed a law giving the FTC full authority to implement a national Do Not Call registry. This was in response to a Federal judge ruling from last week saying the FTC could not implement such a list. Of course there are other ruling saying the whole list is unconstitutional, sighting free speech.
All these judges are nuts. All our ‘constitutional rights’ have limitations. Limits placed on us to be part of a society. You can’t yell ‘Fire’ in a movie theater is the classic example. Taking away this freedom from the individual is in the best interest of the society. Same applies to the ‘do not call’ list. It’s in the best interest of everyone if this freedom (for random companies to call me whenever they see fit) is withdrawn.
This all means the October 1st deadline will likely have no impact.
I hope those federal judges are reading this.
